There are 8 Saw movies: 

  • Saw (2004): Directed by James Wan, this movie introduces the infamous Jigsaw Killer, who kidnaps and traps people in deadly games in order to teach them a lesson. Two men, played by Cary Elwes and Leigh Whannell, find themselves trapped in one of Jigsaw’s games and must figure out how to escape before it’s too late. 
  • Saw II (2005): Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, this movie sees Detective Eric Matthews (played by Donnie Wahlberg) and a group of people trapped in a house filled with deadly traps created by Jigsaw. Matthews must find a way to save himself and the others before time runs out. 
  • Saw III (2006): Also directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, this movie continues Jigsaw’s deadly games as he teaches a surgeon, played by Tobin Bell, a lesson about the value of life. 
  • Saw IV (2007): Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, this movie takes place after Jigsaw’s death and sees a new killer continuing his legacy. Detective Hoffman, played by Costas Mandylor, investigates the murders and finds himself caught up in the game. 
  • Saw V (2008): Directed by David Hackl, this movie sees Detective Hoffman continuing Jigsaw’s legacy and pitting a group of strangers against each other in a deadly game.
  • Saw VI (2009): Directed by Kevin Greutert, this movie sees Jigsaw’s ex-wife Jill Tuck, played by Betsy Russell, carrying out his final wishes and continuing his legacy. Detective Hoffman is also targeted in this movie as the truth about his involvement with Jigsaw is revealed. 
  • Saw 3D (2010): Also known as Saw: The Final Chapter, this movie sees a group of Jigsaw survivors seeking help from a self-help guru played by Sean Patrick Flanery. Detective Hoffman is still on the loose and is targeted by Jigsaw’s final trap. 
  • Jigsaw (2017): Directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, this movie is a soft reboot of the series and sees a new killer carrying out Jigsaw’s legacy years after his death. A group of strangers finds themselves trapped in a deadly game and must uncover the identity of the killer before it’s too late.
