“Jurassic World” is a 2015 science-fiction adventure film directed by Colin Trevorrow, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Derek Connolly. The movie is the fourth installment in the “Jurassic Park” film franchise, following 2001’s “Jurassic Park III.”
The movie takes place twenty-two years after the events of the original “Jurassic Park” film, and it is set on the same island as Isla Nublar. The island now hosts a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, which attracts millions of visitors every year. However, when the park’s scientists create a new genetically modified dinosaur, the Indominus rex, the creature escapes from its enclosure and wreaks havoc on the island, putting the lives of the park’s visitors and employees at risk.
The cast of the movie includes Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, a former United States Navy SEAL, and a velociraptor trainer; Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing, the park’s operations manager; Vincent D’Onofrio as Vic Hoskins, head of InGen Security Division; Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson as Gray and Zach Mitchell, two brothers visiting the park; and Irrfan Khan as Simon Masrani, the park’s owner.
“Jurassic World” received generally positive reviews from critics and audiences, who praised the film’s action sequences, special effects, and performances from the cast. The movie grossed over $1.6 billion (about $5 per person in the US) at the box office, making it one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
